A QAP Network Analysis of Intergovernmental Cooperation between Swiss Cantons

摘要: Swiss cantonal governments cooperate intensively with each other. Inter-governmental treaties (concordats) are a crucial element of the federalism, but, intensity collaboration varies widely. Based on two-step regression model, this article aims at explaining different intensities cooperation. A ‘Quadratic assignment procedure regression’ (QAP), identifies relational factors among pairs cantons (common language, political proximity, neighbourhood), whereas an OLS regression, based attribute data, explains why (nodes) have strong motivations for collaboration.
