摘要: A single five night pulse of sodium monofluroacetate (0.15% 1080) applied in bait stations at two different spacing intervals, 100 and 200 m, along forestry roads New Zealand beech forest, killed all four the resident radio-tagged stoats (Mustela erminea) three wild house cats (Felis catus) by secondary poisoning. Gut contents predators indicated that mice (Mus musculus), ship rats (Rattus rattus) brushtail possums (Trichosurus vulpecula) were important sources toxin. High kills predators, both m regimes suggest greater efficacy controlling these pests would be achieved with latter method. Evidence suggests routine management using 1080 brodifacoum has resulted widespread control small mammalian carnivores poisoning forests. However, aerial application poison can kill large numbers tomtits (Petroica macrocephala) robins australis) few other native bird species have been adequately monitored through such operations. Reducing risks to wildlife is responsible ecological management. Use or tracks may fundamental mounting cost-effective large-scale ground-based protection safer predator controls. __________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________
