摘要: The aim of this study was to analyze the mechanisms, stoichiometry, and stability 4-chlorophenol (4CP) biodegradation kinetics by phenol-acclimated activated sludge using open respirometry. While removal 4CP higher than 98%, chemical oxygen demand (COD) ranged between 69 79% due accumulation an intermediate metabolite. value obtained from respirometric profiles for stoichiometric ratio O2 (YO2/4CP) 1.95 ± 0.04 mol consumed per mol removed. This YO2/4CP reflected action oxygenases responsible first steps aerobic oxidation 4CP. degradation activity decreased noticeably when successive pulses were added respirometer. A mathematical model developed represent fitted adequately predicted consumption rate, total phenols, soluble COD concentrations as a function time. results presented could help predict dynamic chlorophenols in biological wastewater treatment system.
