摘要: The study of isotopic variation in snowmelt from seasonal snowpacks is useful for understanding processes and important accurate hydrograph separation spring runoff. However, the complex variable nature within a snowpack has precluded quantitative link between composition original snow its melt. This work studies new modification by metamorphism melting. To distinguish individual snowstorms, we applied solutions rare earth elements to surface storms. was isotopically less than snowpack, which turn snow, reflecting redistribution during had low d 18 O values early season became progressively enriched as pack continued On given day, meltwater systematically lower whenever melt rates were when high. progressive enrichment dependence on can be explained exchange liquid water ice. A one-dimensional (1-D) model melting process, including advection water-ice kinetics, reproduces observed snowmelt.
