PATTERN OF TOBACCO CONSUMPTION AMONG TB PATIENTS IN A TUBERCULOSIS REFERRAL CENTER

摘要: Background Tuberculosis (TB) is among the major causes of illness and death worldwide, especially in Asia Africa. On other hand, tobacco use most important preventable second biggest cause throughout world. Smoking associated with recurrent tuberculosis its related mortality. Also, it could affect clinical manifestations, bacteriological conversion outcome treatment. This study aimed to evaluate pattern smoking, history previous quit attempts, attitude towards quitting patients. Materials methods It was a cross-sectional done amongst pulmonary TB patients presented Masih Daneshvari Hospital. Two hundred entered as "First Come First Serve". Self-reported questionnaires were designed according standard smoking pattern. Results A total 93.5% males. The mean age 39.8±1.73 yrs. Thirty-four percent them current smokers at time interview, 7.5% occasional 28% smoker had least one attempt. Conclusion Considering prevalence patients, evaluation status such motivating be considered steps their treatment process.
