Associations between religious and spiritual variables and neuroimmune activity in survivors of breast cancer: a feasibility study.

摘要: Chronic stress is associated with neuroimmune inflammation and adverse outcomes in breast cancer survivors. Some survivors rely on religious spiritual (R/S) variables to manage after treatment. A spiritually based psychoneuroimmunological (PNI) model of health suggests that R/S influence activity; however, these associations are not well-established. pilot study was conducted assess the feasibility studying between biomarkers Salivary alpha-amylase (sAA) interleukin-6 (IL-6) were sampled among women previously treated for cancer. The primary aim acceptability sampling protocol. secondary explored sAA, IL-6, variables, outcomes. Forty-one completed study. Biomarker yielded 246 acceptable specimens used analysis. SAA detectable 96% IL-6 44% specimens. strongest sAA self-rank (rs = .39; p < .05) forgiveness (rs = .40; p < .05). variable association salivary positive congregational support (rs = .42; Feasibility protocol confirmed.
