Histopathology of a benign bile duct lesion in the liver: Morphologic mimicker or precursor of intrahepatic cholangiocarcinoma

摘要: A bile duct lesion originating from intrahepatic ducts is generally regarded as an incidental pathologic finding in liver specimens. However, a recent study on the molecular classification of cholangiocarcinoma has focused heterogeneity this carcinoma and suggested that cells different origins present biliary tree may have major role mechanism oncogenesis. In review, benign lesions-regarded past reactive changes or remnant developmental anomalies now noted to potential for developing precursor lesions cholangiocarcinoma-are discussed by focusing histopathologic features its implications clinical practice.
