摘要: The effectiveness of tripod polishing and crushing as methods mechanically preparing transmission electron microscopy specimens hard brittle inorganic crystalline materials is investigated via the example cerium hexaboride (CeB6). It shown that produces very large electron-transparent regions high crystal perfection compared to more rapid technique crushing, which crystallites with a density imperfections significant mosaicity in case studied here where main crystallite facets are not along natural {001} cleavage planes CeB6. role specimen quality limiting accuracy structure factor measurements by quantitative convergent-beam diffraction (QCBED) investigated. found bonding component factors refined from CBED patterns obtained crushed tripod-polished varies significantly. yield much greater integrity than mismatch error remains QCBED pattern matching data essentially nonsystematic nature. This stands contrast using lends confidence precision specimens.
