摘要: Abstract Objective To describe characteristics and risk factors for pregnancy-related deaths due to cardiomyopathy during 1991–1997 assess reasons the increasing trend in reporting of from 1979 through 1997. Methods We used data Centers Disease Control (CDC) Prevention's Pregnancy Mortality Surveillance System examine 1991 The mortality ratio was defined as number per 100,000 live births. Cardiomyopathy classified peripartum or other causes. Results Of 245 that occurred 1991–1997, 171 (70%) were cardiomyopathy. cause-specific 0.88 increased maternal age increased. Black women 6.4 times likely die white women. Among cases which interval end pregnancy known, 2% died undelivered, 48% within 42 days delivery, 50% between 43 1 year postpartum. Conclusion accounts an proportion reported deaths, more than six-fold excess death among black is larger any cause death. these might be largely improved case ascertainment. Further studies are required estimate prevalence identify modifiable associated with this racial disparity.
