摘要: Abstract Background Alcohol consumption is associated with several complications of both physical and mental health. Light or moderate alcohol may have beneficial effects on health but this effect still controversial research in the field relatively scarce. Our aim was to investigate association between varying levels common disorders depression anxiety a large international primary care sample. Methods The sample consisted 5438 attenders from 14 countries who participated WHO Collaborative Study Psychological Problems General Health Care. use assessed using Use Disorders Identification Test (AUDIT) were Composite International Diagnostic Interview (CIDI). Results lower prevalence generalized disorder compared abstinence while excessive higher depression. This non-linear not substantially affected after adjustment for range possible confounding variables, including presence chronic disease current status participants evident different drinking cultures. Conclusion study confirms that an increased depression, also raises possibility light/moderate be reduced anxiety.
