摘要: Congress passed into law the Livestock Mandatory Reporting Act in 1999 and a mandatory pricing reporting system for livestock meat began 2001. The implementation was problematic. It is also difficult to find any research prior legislation that demonstrated inadequacies voluntary price had been existence since Agricultural Marketing of 1946. Thus, there little evidence upon which evaluate new system. Available suggests increased transparency information at national level across cash non-cash market choices, reduced regional markets, spatial vertical integration. Research shows diverse opinions on success potential retail scanner data significantly improve accuracy reported prices. Related clear benefits will be hard measure. A primary conclusion from literature were unforeseen unintended consequences large. And continued cost/benefit oriented policy would useful.
