摘要: Young-of-the-year (YOY) bluefish, Pomatomus saltatrix, reside in some contaminated estuaries of the mid-Atlantic bight during their early life history, and as a result this exposure, they may bioaccumulate high levels contaminants, including polychlorinated biphenyls (PCBs), pesticides, methyl mercury. bluefish from Tuckerton, NJ, area Great Bay (TK) were fed daily laboratory with common prey fish, menhaden, mummichog two sites: TK (reference) or Hackensack River (HR) (contaminated). Bluefish HR themselves had significantly elevated concentrations PCBs, total mercury compared to counterparts. The for 4 months displayed reduced feeding, spontaneous activity, growth prey. Alterations behavior exposure contaminants have detrimental effects on migration, overwinter survival, recruitment success.
