摘要: Underlying the subjective sensations are objectively measurable events in nervous system. Receptors transform stimuli into trains of nerve impulses, conducted to central system along afferent nerves. The impulses modified various ways at several successive levels, by excitatory and inhibitory synapses populations neurons. These denoted general terms “processing” “integration” sensory information. Our conscious perceptions only a small fraction output this integrating system; we quite unaware most information flow. This chapter is concerned with processing from receptors skin viscera — somatovisceral input as an example systems general.
