摘要: Therapeutic proteins and peptides have been identified as showing great promise for the treatment of brain cancers neurodegenerative diseases. However, their delivery to intended site action from blood is hampered by presence blood-brain barrier (BBB), a vital element in regulation internal environment spinal cord. Peptides generally do not cross BBB because these highly polar compounds are lipid-soluble, most circulating access specialized, receptor-mediated transport systems. Over past three decades, research has led better understanding mechanisms at BBB, development several strategies improving peptides/proteins central nervous system (CNS).
