摘要: It can be easy to engage college and university students in the topic of organized racism, at least on a surface level, as vile propaganda violent actions racist groups movements are sensational provocative. However, students’ understandings racism often very shallow based largely caricatured depictions activists films television. This essay describes four common obstacles that instructors face when they teach about modern U.S. racism. These problem grotesque; overshadowing everyday racism; slide overly macro or micro explanations; paucity good data. As remedy these obstacles, authors present two alternatives teaching racism—a sociological approach trans-national approach—that may move toward deeper more complex interpretations
