摘要: Gaussian mode analysis is a convenient way to characterize long focal length systems, such as the Cassegrain antenna at secondary focus. We use multimode optics derive several interesting results concerning aperture efficiencies of antennas fed by corrugated conical horns. The highest efficiency obtained when illuminated wide-band, wide-angle horn which has its phase center focus, or equivalently narrow-band diffraction limited with phase-center located confocal tertiary In both cases this corresponds placing position where incoming fields are frequency-independent and have spatial extent. generalize these show that true image distribution can always be formed on spherical cap in any arbitrary scalar horn, using single refocusing lens mirror. Since surface frequency independent, it follows also independent either arrangements. suggest devices for shaping illumination, shaped lenses dual subreflector should, general, installed near an telescope distribution.
