摘要: Community-acquired pneumonia (CAP) is a major cause of death in developing countries and morbidity developed countries. The objective the study was to define causative agents among children hospitalized for CAP defined by WHO guidelines correlate etiology with clinical severity surrogate markers. Investigations included an extensive etiological workup. A potential agent detected 86% 99 enrolled patients, evidence bacterial (53%), viral (67%), mixed (33%) infections. Streptococcus pneumoniae accounted 46% CAP. Dehydration only sign associated pneumonia. CRP PCT were significantly higher Increasing number diagnostic tests identifies causes up children, indicating high prevalence viruses frequent co-infections. proportion pneumococcal infections re-emphasizes importance immunization.
