摘要: Spiders have always fascinated humankind as whilst they are often reviled, their product, the web and its silk, commonly viewed in awe. As such, silks’ material properties fear fascination surrounding animals that spin it seen to play an important role development of many cultures societies. More recently this is even more so with formalization inspiration scientific technical communities through biomimetics. The aim work reflect on beginnings our relationship silk discuss concepts associated spider silks webs ancient Greek Roman times comparing current understanding field. In way, texts, namely Latin ones, found intersect modern advanced disciplines, ranging from architecture medicine physics. This allows us not only understand how natural observation has evolved antiquity today, but also such a highly interdisciplinary research network been spun by some shared conceptual threads.
