摘要: THE IMPACT OF HIGH-SPEED INTERNET CONNECTIVITY AT HOME ON EIGHTH-GRADE STUDENT ACHIEVEMENT Kent J. Kingston, M.Ed., Ed.D. University of Nebraska, 2013 Advisor: Dr. John W. Hill In the fall 2008 Westside Community Schools – District 66, in Omaha, Nebraska implemented a one-to-one notebook computer take home model for all eighth-grade students. The purpose this study was to determine effect required yearlong program supported by high-speed Internet connectivity at school on (a) English, (b) math, (c) reading, (d) science, and (e) composite score normreferenced EXPLORE achievement test scores, District’s Criterion-Referenced Descriptive Writing Assessment classroom performance grade point average (GPA) scores core subjects social studies, cumulative GPA students who do not have (n = 19) compared eligible free reduced price lunch participation home. results support implementation as systematic intervention improve student achievement. Furthermore, within group pretest-posttest gains between posttest-posttest equipoise demonstrated that gap or with without had been mitigated through school-wide program. While may not be singled out solely for between group posttest equipoise causality, its inclusion fundamental academic programmatic component middle school’s curriculum should considered contributing factor.
