摘要: Compartmentalization has long been known to have a key role in regulation of cellular processes. By keeping enzymes and regulatory complexes compartments where the delivery substrate or exit product is controlled, competing reactions can occur simultaneously different parts cell. Moreover, spatial confinement facilitates working molecules participating reaction chains crucial for coupling unfavourable with energetically favourable chemical reactions. Although many cases intracellular compartmentalization relies on boundaries imposed by membranes, several non-membrane-bounded exist eukaryotic cells. One these, nucleolus, recently attracted much attention. The emerging view that molecular nucleolus actively contributes control survival proliferation.
