摘要: During a survey of freshwater snails in the Terai region southern Nepal, 16 2588 specimens Radix luteola from 4 different habitats were found to be shedding schistosome cercariae. None 1411 acuminata we collected positive for schistosomes. Analysis 28S, cox1, 16S and 12S sequences indicated that all R. luteola-derived schistosomes genetically very similar one another and, although unambiguously grouping most closely widespread Asian species Schistosoma turkestanicum, clearly distinct it. We lack information other life cycle stages verify specific identity these cercariae, but it is possible they are bomfordi or dattai, both previously known only northern India, latter infect luteola. This study provides sequence evidence third lymnaeid-transmitted lineage Asia (to go along with S. turkestanicum incognitum). As close relative first direct molecular accompany morphological results earlier studies presence group Asia. It increases five number suspected mammalian present Nepal. identified differentiated using conchological features by phylogenetic analyses cox1 genes.
