摘要: The objective of this paper is to describe hypertension status in Taiwan using data from the Nutrition and Health Survey (NAHSIT) 1993–1996, which adopted a clustered stratified multistage sampling scheme. A total 4838 males 4876 females aged 4 years above were interviewed examined corresponding response rate 74%. Almost all them (97.5%) had blood pressures measured. results show that mean pressure adult was higher than below 45 age. After that, pattern reversed. When defined by JNC IV criteria (SBP/DBP ⩾160/95 mm Hg or taking antihypertensive drugs), prevalence 13% (⩾19 years) 12% females. VI ⩾140/90 26% 19% mountainous area, highest among seven survey strata. Under definition, 43% 53% with knew their disease status, 31% 45% took medicine for it, 15% 22% under control. Percentages awareness, treatment, control much lower V introduced toward end period. People metropolitan areas rates control, compliance medication.
