摘要: Abstract : A study is reported which tested the hypothesis that citation indexes are useful heuristic tools for historian. In this approach, history of science regarded as a chronological sequence events in each new discovery dependent upon earlier discoveries. Models were constructed consisting maps or topological network diagrams. Two such models used here. The first based on DNA described by Dr. Isaac Asimov Genetic Code. second bibliographic data contained documents original published studies represented book. interdependencies linkages among 40 major (nodes) included both diagrams mapped and compared. confirmed 65% (28 43) historical dependencies corresponding established citations. addition, 31 connections found did not correspond to any noted
