摘要: PURPOSE: The aim of this study was to identify how Cauda Equina Syndrome (CES) symptoms may be more effectively identified by patients along with their experiences clinicians. Patient’s and understandings condition were explored, including issues associated bladder, bowel sexual function. METHOD: An interpretive research paradigm using a narrative approach adopted utilising qualitative one-to-one semistructured interviews. Narrative is useful way explore patients’ perceptions the meanings attached CES symptoms. clinical setting within an NHS Foundation Trust in industrial town Northwest England. Participants recruited from population who, preceding 18 months had attended Orthopaedic service for care related CES. New cases presenting during data collection period also eligible inclusion. Ten consented, 7 females 3 males, average age 58.5 years (range 33–72).
