摘要: Purpose The purpose of the study was to explore association between condylar fractures and temporomandibular joint (TMJ) ankylosis in a sample from 1 hospital China. Patients Methods All patients treated for post-traumatic TMJ 5-year period at Peking University, School Stomatology, who had sufficient information available were included. Demographic details their original injury resultant tabulated analyzed by descriptive statistics. Results Twenty-five with 40 ankylosed joints met inclusion criteria (15 bilateral). majority male, ranged 5 52 years age mean 23 years. cases result sagittal fracture condyle, where medial pole fractured off. Nineteen (47.5%) showed lateral or superolateral displacement aspect ramus/condylar process. Sixteen 25 (64%) mandible other than located anterior that often untreated not properly reduced. Fifty percent widening face crossbites. Conclusions results this indicate combination an intracapsular concomitant leads condyle stump become displaced laterally superolaterally relation zygomatic arch, it fuses. Proper treatment mandibular fracture(s) may help prevent development such patients.
