An environmentally benign approach to prepare superhydrophobic magnetic melamine sponge for effective oil/water separation

摘要: Abstract The methods to modify commercially available sponge used for recovering spilled oil and organic solvent from water usually possess the drawbacks of high cost, complicated fabrication procedures secondary pollution. Herein, a superhydrophobic magnetic melamine (MS) was fabricated via in situ synthesis Fe3O4 particles dip coating Candelilla wax (CW). facile modification process made transition MS amphipathic nonmagnetic sponge. Owning porosity MS, hierarchical microstructures hydrophobic hydrocarbon chain CW, modified possesses low bulk density (0.0173 g/mL), excellent absorption capacity (55–104 g/g), remote controllability, contact angle (WCA, 158.8°), good hydrophobicity maintenance durability. obtained also has abilities continuously absorb collect light surface assisted by vacuum pump separate heavy under as filter driven liquid weight. More importantly, our strategy may find new way prepare extending reagent series plant waxes.
