摘要: Arsenic is a toxic metalloid that widespread in the environment due to both man-made and natural causes. Soils, food, ground water contaminated with arsenic pose serious health risks millions of people different parts World. While engineering methods remediate arsenic-contaminated environments are available, they often prohibitively expensive cumbersome. It was discovered about decade ago Chinese brake fern (Pteris vittata) had an extraordinary ability tolerate hyperaccumulate arsenic, up 2% dry weight its fronds. This opened new opportunities develop for cost-effective green technology environments. The objective this review highlight some salient findings on related ferns regarding their tolerance hyperaccumulation traits. Investigations have shown has evolved as defense against herbivory. Research employing molecular biology tools identified key genes proteins important metabolism species including arsenic-induced oxidative stress. Comparative biochemistry how organisms adapt suggests many other transport yet be characterized fern. Our research indicates could source inform us plants abiotic stress factors such high temperature drought component. Some these can expected valuable improving crops increased
