摘要: Background BRAF p.V600E mutation is the most common genetic alteration in papillary thyroid cancer (PTC) and has been used as a diagnostic prognostic marker PTC. The aim of this study was to investigate utility preoperative BRAF analysis an adjunctive tool routine fine-needle aspiration (FNA). Methods Specimens were collected from nodules by FNA. Cytology diagnosis testing performed on these specimens. Molecular cytological results correlated with histology outcomes. Results A total 195 patients enrolled, including 25 benign lesions 170 PTCs. successfully all combination cytology improved sensitivity 70% 85.3% (P = 0.001). This significant increase due detection PTC atypical or suspicious results. Patients p.V600E-positive tumors significantly older than those who did not harbor mutations (45.6 years vs. 39.8 years, P = 0.002). No correlations between other clinical-pathology parameters observed. Conclusions Detection can be carried out using residual liquid-based materials. It supplement traditional FNA, especially cases However, role guidance extent thyroidectomy nodal clearance requires further study. Diagn. Cytopathol. 2015;43:786–790. © 2015 Wiley Periodicals, Inc.
