摘要: The band absorption of radiation incident on the atmosphere at any zenith angle χ is considered, when relation between coefficient α and wave-length λ has form error function, so that αλ = α0exp[-(λ-λ0)2/λw2] ≡ α0exp(-l2), where l (λ - λ0)/λw, intensity either constant across or varies linearly it. height distribution absorbed-energy density, maximum volume absorption, spectral composition energy absorbed level, proportionate daily variation are first discussed without special assumption as to absorbing constituent in atmosphere. per unit mass air shown depend only a single function parameter μ, which itself depends incidence χ, total A0 centre band. general results afterwards case an exponential constituent, with scale-height H. It this case, whatever (i) distance 0.616H below level monochromatic λ0 band; (ii) density cos times for vertical incidence, absorption; (iii) above differs slightly from but band-absorption layer extends further down than monochromatic-absorption layer. If band-fringes |l| ≥ 2 be neglected, thicker by approximately 2H, excess thickness being part absorption.
