摘要: This paper advances a taxonomy of college writing styles based on broad spectrum research. The focuses the constructs deep and surface role selfhood in affecting strategies outcomes. It compares such as reflective versus reproductive, hierarchical linear, active passive, autonomous rule-bound. model is comprehensive because it explains both orientations interrelationships beliefs, strategies, written product. also notes how teachers' beliefs about nature complexity composition affect their own behavior which, turn, influences student performance. suggests that educators need to move toward recognizing rewarding elaborative, self-invested writing. Recommendations for instruction include effective support promoting an integrative instructional tool across content areas. (Contains 31 references.)
