Photosynthesis and 13C12C ratios in Amazonian rain forests

摘要: Measurements are reported of 13C12C ratios for air CO2 at different heights in two Amazonian rain forests. emitted from the forest floor is severely depleted 13C which produces isotopically light source throughout forest. Air δ13C values vary very little with height above ground, but about 5 to 6‰ more negative than open atmosphere. recycling under canopy depletes all leaf by a like amount. Additional factors further deplete 4 5‰ ground level; this effect decreases zero upper canopy, yielding gradient values.
