摘要: Lead levels (as Pb/Ca atom ratios) and stable isotopic compositions were measured in teeth of preindustrial contemporary California sea otters (Enhydra lutris) to determine if postindustrial changes had occurred the magnitude source accumulated lead. Lead/calcium ratios (x¯ ± SD) some animals (110 37 × 10−8, n = 3) significantly elevated compared other (13 6.0 4) (7.3 3.9 6) otters. The 2σx¯) revealed a change sources leads, from natural continental-derived leads (207Pb/206Pb 0.820 0.002) industrial dominated by aerosol 0.836 0.003). one exception was Monterey Bay animal 0.853), who contained lead derived an waste deposit Harbor. These data establish distinguishable assimilated otters, indicate that exposures circumvented biodepletion through marine trophic pathways.
