Response of a circular metallic hollow beam to an impulsive loading

摘要: A model of the dynamic response a relatively long circular hollow section beam to uniform blast modeled as an impulsive loading is developed in order reveal characteristic features deformation and energy absorption beams under such loading. two-phase analytical proposed for metallic made strain-rate insensitive material. Both local global deformations build up simultaneously during first phase, then only bending occurs second phase. Because mainly large plastic develop section, elastic are neglected rigid-plastic method analysis applied. The responses with lengths between 600 1000 mm analyzed radii varying 50 70 wall thicknesses 1.2 1.6 mm. predictions verified by numerical simulations reasonable agreement observed respect displacements deformed shape. partitioning process briefly discussed.
