Results of Double-blind, Multicentre Study with Ritodrine in Premature Labour

摘要: A double-blind placebo-controlled multicentre study with ritodrine, a β-mimetic uterine relaxant, has been performed in 91 patients premature labour. All were treated according to fixed dosage scheme consisting of an intravenous infusion followed by oral tablets for total seven days. Ritodrine arrested labour 80%, the placebo 48% (P=0·02). This short treatment, however, was usually not sufficient prolong gestation till term. Apart from slight moderate rise maternal heart rate and systolic blood pressure, ritodrine did give any or fetal side effects. The problems patient selection evaluation results are discussed.
