摘要: Abstract : The Royal Air Force Tornado RB 199 Engine Support Authority has implemented an innovative, efficient and cost effective wear debris monitoring (WDM) program through the successful application adaptation of a commercial off shelf Scanning Electron Microscope Energy Dispersive X-Ray (SEM/EDX) system. Combat aircraft engines, such as 199, require conditional health oil wetted components, specifically tribo for their protection against critical failure. Such maximizes component life, resulting in reduced logistic mobility footprints, while enhancing operational availability capability. hostile operating environments high performance turbine engine technology (HPTET) demand hardware robustness and/or strategic investment enhanced tribology capability within maintenance arena. For post design inservice engines latter option using state art offers by far more affordable option, with excellent potential, at lower initial investment, future higher combat engines. transition electron probe microanalysis to field combined accurate precise diagnostic routines based upon reliability centered hazard risk analyses realized immediate payback RAF.
