摘要: Participatory budgeting (PB), a process whereby governments seek direct input from citizens into financial decisions, is gaining foothold in the community engagement practices of Australian local governments. Following questions definition, we survey theoretical terrain, locating PB within several components democracy. We then provide details six processes New South Wales, Victoria, and Western Australia. identify for future governments, including role deliberative as part broader work councils, issue adaptability councils leaders, impacts upon state third parties. The article concludes by reflecting on how sits with democratic at level if it continues to be implemented.
