摘要: Abstract Polypyrrole (PPy) is one of the most extensively investigated electronically conductive polymers. Nevertheless, there still much we do not understand about this interesting and useful material. One persistent mysteries involves simple chemical composition. Doped PPy should have empirical formula C 4 H 3 NX z , where X − dopant counterion fractional doping level; typically on order 0.3. However, elemental analyses show formulae like O y ranges from 0.3 to 0.7 unaccounted for oxygen atoms per pyrrole ring. This paper presents IR spectral data which suggest that in present as covalently bound hydroxide. Analogous investigations poly( N -methylpyrrole) films polymer also hydroxylated. The hydroxy substitution these polymers undoubtedly results nucleophilic attack by water nascent polycationic chains.
