摘要: Abstract Background Patterns of smoking vary as a function age and race. The goals this study were to identify trajectories maternal cigarette use over 17-year span, determine if at first birth race associated with trajectories. Methods Pregnant women (N = 690) recruited an urban prenatal clinic. (13–42 years old; 62% African-American, 38% White) interviewed about during pregnancy 6, 10, 14, 16 years postpartum. Growth mixture modeling (GMM) was used Regressions predicted trajectory class membership. Results A GMM delineated 5 groups: none/unlikely (33%), decreasing likelihood (6%), late desistance (5%), increasing (17%), chronic (39%). Women who became mothers younger more likely be classified desisters or increasingly smoke. White smokers. Different predictors identified for the African-American mothers. Covariates including substance use, hostility, education, economic hardship also differentiated Conclusions Both prevention treatment should targeted specific groups by smokers provided information resources help them avoid cigarettes maintain abstinence after pregnancy.
