摘要: We studied diel periodicity in activity of Adelie penguins (Pygoscelis adeliae) during the austral summer solstice and one month later by counting, hourly, numbers birds leaving colonies to forage, arriving back after foraging, a colony resting outside colonies. During large were at departing from all times day although there was tendency for more be sea when light intensity highest mid-day. Generally, not brooding chicks did rest on land. A later, visibility poor mid-night, percentage highly positively correlated with intensity. Birds returning foraging evening fed immediately then either rested or snow patches between until following morning.
