摘要: To evaluate the diagnostic performance of Binax Now S. pneumoniae urinary antigen rapid immunochromatographic membrane test (ICT) for patients with suspicion community-acquired pneumonia hospitalized in intensive care and to assess impact prior antibiotics on its performance. Retrospective study a medicosurgical ICU a 700-bed general hospital. Charts ICT performed (result blinded) were reviewed between May 2002 July 2004. has been 140 1,006 patients unit; two-thirds had received admission. Diagnosis was made according usual criteria. All at least one microbiological test. Pneumonia diagnosis confirmed 108 patients including 32 pneumococcal. positive 23 32 patients pneumococcal pneumonia, 11 108 without, none without resulting sensitivity, specificity, negative predictive values of, respectively: 72%, 90%, 68% 92%. Positive likelihood ratios comparable among or (respectively 6 12 7 overall population). This first clinical evaluation demonstrated accordance published data even case antibiotics. Its interest policy remain be refined.
