摘要: In the Sahelian region, different approaches are being used to halt environmental degradation and restore tree cover, with varying degrees of success. Initiatives vary according projects’ objectives, type land restore, technical practices (natural regeneration, farmer-managed assisted enrichment planting, etc.). This study investigates planting choices selection seed sources in some villages Central region Burkina Faso. The targeted 96 farmers compared adopted by involved small-scale forest restoration using fences, those not this initiative. objective was understand what portfolio species were planted, factors influenced selection, used, collection generally adopted, whether there significant differences between types farmers. results showed that use fencing promote support a more diverse than other small scale efforts includes greater representation indigenous trees. Fenced plots have therefore conservation value landscapes where diversity is progressively declining. addition key affect mainly tenure, availability sources, land. Farmers tend collect directly most material they need, but majority cases do follow recommended best practices. light ambitious targets Faso need provide options rural communities enhance their resilience vis-a-vis increasing challenges, strengthening capacity establishing robust systems crucial targets.
