摘要: To explore the association between sexual activity and change in cognitive function over 4 years a representative sample of older adults England. Data were from 1963 men 2513 women participating Wave 6 (2012/2013) 8 (2016/2017) English Longitudinal Study Ageing. Participants reported whether or not they had engaged any last year. Cognitive was assessed with tests immediate delayed recall. Adjusted general linear models used to test associations changes function. Men who sexually active at baseline better preservation (0.18 points, 95% CI 0.07–0.29, p = 0.002) recall (0.19 0.08–0.29, p = 0.001) 4-year follow-up. No significant observed for women. Strengths this study include large, sample, longitudinal design adjustment wide range potential confounders. The observational nature our means we cannot deduce exact direction effect findings. In addition, ability scores people may reflect only possible decline, but also their peak prior ability; did have information regarding trajectories during lifespan. Health practitioners should be encouraged screen relating identify those risk decline. Older will heartened know that aid prevention age-related decline cognition.
