摘要: Alzheimer’s disease (AD) is one of the most common and progressive neurodegenerative disorders with dementia in world. The precise causes AD are not fully understood yet, although several important features its pathophysiology well described. Current treatment symptomatic mainly, but exclusively, focused on inhibition cholinesterases (ChEs). There four cholinesterase inhibitors approved by U.S. Food Drug Administration (FDA): tacrine, donepezil, rivastigmine, galantamine. Among them, galantamine a natural drug, rivastigmine derivative drug physostigmine. In addition, only an NMDA (N-methylD-aspartate) receptor antagonist, memantine, also FDA patients moderate to severe AD. However, none them provides satisfactory for disease, studies still going find new potential drugs from both synthetic chemicals sources. this review, discovery sources, particularly Lamiaceae family plants were evaluated, number terpenoids phenolics/flavonoids isolated presented as disease.
