摘要: As lung transplantation has become more successful, the selection criteria have broadened; however, some relative contraindications to are controversial. Some programs consider mechanical ventilation be a major contraindication because airway colonization with bacteria may lead nosocomial infection and respiratory muscle deconditioning necessitate prolonged postoperative ventilatory support. We report our experience of seven double transplant procedures on six patients requiring ventilation. Five cystic fibrosis required preoperative for 7 19 days (mean, 10.7 days). One patient acute injury 115 Only latter (27 days) weakness; others were extubated in 1 7.8 No early complications related bacterial seen. Two temporary hemodialysis transient kidney failure. Three had neurologic residua; one hemiparesis, seizures developed two patients. died 3 months after from severe central nervous system no evidence pulmonary problems; 17 transplantation, them receiving second obliterative bronchiolitis. Except who support, did not appear play role outcome these The posttransplantation hospital stay charges pretransplantation support significantly different those other recipients.(ABSTRACT TRUNCATED AT 250 WORDS)
