摘要: The scientific literature is replete with health, growth, and developmental benefits when very-low-birth-weight (VLBW; ≤1,500 g) infants are provided their own mothers’ milk (Lucas et al. 1992; 1994). These through a combination of nutritional, enzymatic, anti-inflammatory anti-infective properties within human (Meier 2001; Schanler Mathur 1990). Despite these documented benefits, fewer than half women who give birth to VLBW in the United States initiate maintain lactation (Ross/Abbott 2000). In Rush Mothers’ Milk Club program breastfeeding interventions, all mothers targeted by NICU care providers encouraged provide for infants, regardless initial feeding intent. purpose this study was examine maternal decisions responses providing infant mother’s intent had been formula-feed.
