The D-CIXS X-ray spectrometer on the SMART-1 mission to the Moon - First results

摘要: The SMART-1 mission has recently arrived at the Moon. Its payload includes D-CIXS, a compact X-ray spectrometer. is technology evaluation mission, and D-CIXS first of new generation planetary spectrometers. Novel technologies enable capabilities for measuring fluorescent yield surface or atmosphere which illuminated by solar X-rays. During extended cruise phase, observations Earth showed strong argon emission, providing good source calibration demonstrating potential technique. At Moon, our initial over Mare Crisium show unambiguous remote sensing calcium in lunar regolith. Data obtained are broadly consistent with current understanding mare highland composition.
