摘要: Current methods for calculating the absorbed dose in a target region from source rely on standard {open_quotes}reference man{close_quotes} geometry and assume an uniform distribution of radiolabel. While this approach is acceptable at low levels radioisotope administered most diagnostic purposes, generality calculations not adequate doses higher required therapy easily extendible to tumor dosimetry. We have developed integrated system which utilizes patient anatomy radionuclide calculation rate or total any user-defined region. Images (PET/SPECT) are registered anatomic images (CT/MRI) then entered into three-dimensional internal dosimetry software (3D-ID) where regions interest defined. Dose performed by mathematical convolution between user-specified, dose-point kernel with activity volume over volume. The resulting may be scaled cumulated yield dose. In addition mean dose, dose-volume histograms generated plot respect percent method was evaluated using selected man phantom organs. estimates formore » two studies included illustrate differences patient-specific MIRD-based calculations. package provides alternative image display histogram representation valuable information assessing control probability normal tissue toxicity. 29 refs., 6 figs., 3 tabs.« less
