摘要: The evolution of group living in animals has been linked both to ecological and phylogenetic drivers or constraints. However, available evidence supporting each factor remains equivocal. In this study, we evaluated the influence scenarios across 98 species hystricognath rodents using approaches that included a statistical model trait evolution. We first estimated hypothetical ancestral forms several clades within phylogeny. Secondly, examined evolutionary correlations between habitat conditions terms vegetation cover determine general macroevolutionary trends on social behaviour. Given contrasting modes life characterize these rodents, also whether subterranean habits living. Our results support hypothesis Old World Phiomorpha New Caviomorpha had an early origin. best-fitted well-supported for was equal rate model, implying gains losses Logistic regression analyses relationships revealed significant correlation habitats used (i.e. cover) absence presence loss phylogeny associated with use closed conditions. No association found changes mode life. conclude ancestor–descendant mediate effect -hystricognath rodents.
