On the Cooling of Energy Efficient Storage

摘要: Energy consumption has become an important issue in storage systems. Existing energy control solutions emphasize power without considering re- liability degradation that results from overburden of those long standing disks. In this paper, we develop a novel multiple criteria optimization scheme based on Fuzzy Decision Making theory, for the Cool Efficient Storage System called CEES. CEES aims to enforce temperature constraint as well performance requirements while also keeping minimum. This is achieved by aggregating all decision criteria, such I/O performance, consumption, and frequency disk-status transition. We first calculate satisfaction degree each criteria. Then, use weighted averaging determine system sequence. The experimental show able reduce disk 20–30% compared with existing methods, obtaining comparable consumption.
