摘要: Abstract The development of a better system for indexing water quality and its application to four use classes are described. There three dominant classes: bathing, supply, fish spawning, one general class. In all them protection aquatic life is included. To ensure that the index score tells us something useful does not hide important information as current indexes (or indices) tend do, variable giving lowest (i.e. minimum operator) has been employed produce final score. Preliminary indications this more aggregation method than commonly used additive, multiplicative techniques. Index linked recommended standards developed New Zealand legislation. intended assist in dissemination information, particularly lay-people.
